Capturing a Wookie can be dangerous business.  Just ask PFD.  The distinctive growl of the Wookie is just one of the many sounds captured by Greg and PFD for the sixth film in the “Star Wars” series (Episode Three, “Revenge of the Sith”).  Greg recorded sound effects for Sound Designer Ben Burtt which would become an element of the Wookie language.  In addition to the Wookies, PFD provided dozens of effects that became Star Skiffs, Force Sticks, various weapons, atmospheres and other space paraphenalia in the film.

Gentlemen, start your engines:

"NASCAR: The Imax Experience is a splendid example of pure cinema, but it is not exclusively devoted to races in progress. Instead, it succinctly introduces us to the sport and its history, steadily building to a concluding race composed of images taken at various tracks, a democratic way of suggesting the wide range of stock car racing's appeal…”

Greg Smith and PFD spent over a year crisscrossing the country to NASCAR race tracks to capture the sound for the award-winning IMAX film.  In addition to countless hours spent trackside and in the pits, Greg took several rides in the race cars themselves to capture what has been called “the ultimate in IMAX sound…rich, full and heart-pounding.  The soundtrack literally ‘puts you in the driver’s seat’…”

Covering almost a quarter-million acres, the Badlands National Park in South Dakota is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking areas in the world.  It’s a land of sharp-jutted peaks and vast grasslands, spotted with buffalo, big horn sheep and grey wolves.  Over two years, Greg and the PFD walked the backcountry of this extraordinary region and recorded the sounds of this extraordinary region with director Anne Tubiolo and a NPS film crew.
